BIOGRAFIE

Frank Prankstarr

Frank Prankstarr – Angenehm Anders (Pleasantly Different)

A low, calm and charismatic voice. Sometimes with a distinct touch of rap in his singing, sometimes without. In addition, some productions halfway between American pop references and unconventional downbeat. This is Frank Prankstarr. This is "Angenehm Anders".

This all comes naturally as part of Frank's heritage. In the same way that his output is multi-faceted and multi-layered, Frank has been influenced by a multitude of factors – Frank Prankstarr is American, Croatian and German, a dyed-in-the-wool son of Munich, with a rolling R and an American passport.

From an early age Frank was influenced by his father, who was a hobby musician, and his mother, a semi-professional singer. After a short period of guitar lessons Frank joined the school choir and spent many happy years playing on his electric drum kit, a present from his father.

As short time later, Frank was to meet Frank Raph Beats, a Munich producer who shared in a unique way Frank's new understanding of music. When Frank was given Raph's first instrumental to try out, it was clear to him which way he wanted to go: away again from his first attempts at rapping, back to singing. Up to this day, the pair have created over 100 beats and 50 songs, with Frank taking an active role in the production of some of them. In general, Raph Beates looks after the composition and musical soundtrack, while Frank contributes his ideas via computer and mixing console.

After several years in the music production business Frank knows exactly where he stands today: "My biggest influences on the singing side are by Otis Redding, Xavier Naidoo, R. Kelly, Elton John, Nate Dog and Drake. In terms of productions, I have always been deeply impressed by Dr. Dre, Moses Pellham, Quincy Jones and The Neptunes. Timbaland is a fantastic producer, too, but I also know how to celebrate a David Guetta or Kalkbrenner production." This mix of influences already ran like a red thread through Frank's first single "Time ist Money" (Time is Money) published in 2009 and can clearly be identified in this year's upcoming new release as well.
